Week of March 30 - April 30 - April 3 - "Only in the darkness can you see the stars." Martin Luther King Jr.
Hello 6 W and 6M Welcome to your first full week of Remote Learning - If you have any questions or concerns about the work I have listed below - shoot me an email. Make sure you have completed the work from the Week of March 25 (see below).
Work for this week:
- Newspaper Article - Muskox - please visit the webpage - you can find it on the Functional Writing tab under ELA: watch the video, take a look at the expectations of what a newspaper article has, work on your article and then use the checklist. You will find a PDF of the rubric and assignment, just click on it, you can view it on the website or print it off, what ever works for you. Please write your news article in a Google Doc. When you are read you can submit it to Google Classroom. I do not expect to see those until the end of the week of April 6th. I will look at your progress if you wish, just share with me and email me to let me know you want me to provide you with feedback.
- Read Theory - this should be ongoing and you all have your login and passwords. I can monitor from my end - I can see the date you completed a reading and ho you did on each reading. I would like for you to spend 20 min 2-3 times a week.
- Reading 20 minutes a day. It should be very easy to read 20 minutes a day. Create a Reading Log of your own design and submit that to me in Google Classroom (there will be a Reading Log assignment that pops up on Friday). Most of you should have had two library books at home. If you (or a family member) have a Chinook Arch Library card you can download the Hoopla or Libby app and borrow up to 5 books a month for the cost of a yearly membership.
Blog Posts: Check out my blog posts and comment on one this week.
Can do if you have time:
- Typing.com - this is a free typing program for you. Please just log in using Google. Just like Read Theory, this program tells me how much time you have spent practicing and how well you have done.
- Please not this program is completely optional. My personal belief is that typing will become archaic as more speech to text software becomes available, however, this is a few years away...so in the meantime you should learn to keyboard as this will make taking notes in jr. and sr. high much easier.
Take care of you and yours,
Mrs. Watt
